Ruben Diaz, Jr. is running for Bronx Borough President. Diaz who has been overwhelmingly re-elected to a sixth term in the New York State Assembly has shown himself to be a staunch public advocate tirelessly fighting for the people of the Bronx.
Ruben is a strong proponent of Civil and Human Rights and became internationally known for his involvement in the tragic case of Amadou Diallo.
He has sponsored and passed innovative legislation into law specifically designed to address the consequences of the intolerable levels of asthma in the South Bronx, the hazards of dangerous dog bites and consumer healthcare insurance fraud protection.
Assemblyman Diaz has proven himself to be a fearless environmental defender fighting against environmental racism and injustice.
Assemblyman Diaz’ Standing Committees Include: Children and Families, Education, Environmental Conservation, Transportation, and Ways and Means.
The Assemblyman is also a member of the New York State Assembly Puerto Rican/Hispanic Task Force, the Black/Puerto Rican and Asian Legislative Caucus and in 2007 became the Chairman of the Committee on State-Federal Relations.
