Become a New York Cares Bronx Volunteer

September Highlights

Becoming a New York Cares volunteer is easy. Simply attend a one-time orientation at the Grand Concourse Library in on the evening of Wednesday, September 19th or any other Bronx location. You can then choose from approximately 1,200 projects citywide each month. To register for an orientation in your area, please visit www.newyorkcares.org or call 212-228-5000.

Upcoming Bronx project highlights:

· Book Organization and Card Registration at the NYPL — Celebrate the libraries of New York City, which serve tens of millions of people each year, by organizing books or assisting community members register for library cards at the historic Love a Library event on September 22nd. Projects will take place at the Parkchester, Mott Haven, and Grand Concourse branches, as well as over twenty other sites throughout New York City.
· Bedtime Stories at BronxWorks Willow Family Residence — Spend your Thursday evening brightening a child’s day by reading stories and making crafts with the children of this transitional shelter in Port Morris.
· Create a Garden at New Roots Community Farm — Turn an empty lot in Melrose into a thriving fruit and vegetable garden by planting trees, shrubs, and vegetables at this Friday morning project.
· New York Cares Day Fall — Ensure your local public schools remain, safe, clean, and fun places to for young New Yorkers to learn by joining more than 6,000 volunteers from across New York City in this October 13th day of service.
